How does the monometric display ad network work?

Monumetric works like any other major display ad network. You register and allow them to use space on your blog to display ads from their advertising partners.

they use a Pay Per View (PPV) Revenue model, with each ad impression you earn a portion of your earnings.

With PPV, you get paid even if no one clicks on the ads.

All you have to do is drive enough traffic to your blog to increase your ad exposure.

This is a big difference compared to click ad networks like Google AdSense.

For example, let’s say your blog is for informational or entertainment purposes only. Your readers are interested in learning something new or in a good mood, so they don’t intend to buy a specific product. This means that your ad revenue will be low with pay-per-click (PPC) ad networks because you won’t get as many clicks.

It makes sense, right?

This has been the case for my specific blog for years. Traffic to my blog has increased, but my AdSense earnings have not increased much.

So I decided to look for a good AdSense alternative with a higher payout.

Fortunately, I found Monumetric!

The results are amazing. My ad revenue increased from approximately $1–2 per 1,000 page views to $5–15 per 1000 views.

The best part?

I don’t have to do anything myself

A Monometric representative contacted me to discuss my ad strategy. We exchanged ideas and they told me what was possible and what wasn’t.

Sounds good?

Monometric Income: How Much Does Monometric Cost?

In 2019 Monumetric was the highest-grossing ad network for my blog.

In fact, it earns me more than any other network. all together

And although I sometimes worry that the ads are quite disturbing. But I still haven’t seen a drop in my traffic.

My Monumetric earnings on a small niche blog:

I use Monumetric for two blogs with between 1000 and 3,000 pageviews per day. It’s not too much. But it makes a nice little side hustle.

This is my Monumetric earnings for May-June 2019 (Pageviews are black. Daily ad revenue in blue):

Monometric ad revenue May-June 2019

Here are the key numbers you should pay attention to:

  • Web page view: 800–1,500 every day
  • Income: $5–15 per day
  • RPM or earnings per 1000 page views: $5–16

Both my traffic volume and ad revenue fluctuate quite a lot from day to day. However, there is a slight positive trend in both. Although I expected a low summer soon.

Updated for 2020 monometric earnings:

A lot has happened since the last screenshot of my monometric earnings.

2020 is a crazy year. And most businesses have drastically reduced their advertising budgets.

Monometric earnings - How much can you earn with a monometric display ad network?

Here are some of the new KPIs for July-September 2020:

  • Web page view: 2,500–3,250 per day
  • Income: $10–16 per day
  • RPM or earnings per 1000 page views: $5–8

So even though my page views have doubled, my RPM has dropped.

These results correspond to the regular seasonality of the advertising budget. I can’t wait to see what happens when the holiday season begins!

Ad units I use:

This is the ad unit I’m using:

  1. In the screen: A large banner floats at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Leaderboard: The banner is wide above the content.
  3. Sidebar ads (4 units): Spacing between my sidebar widgets

in these two months We’ve also tested In-article ads for mobile users. These will pop up between your paragraphs and headings as you scroll. However, the results didn’t convince me. So we got rid of it.

Overall, I am more than satisfied with the results. And because they took care of placing ads for me. So I don’t have to do much.

As I’m creating more content for readers, a friendly Monu representative is testing and monitoring my ad’s performance. Not too shabby!

The truth is:

Most networks are not what they seem. Some of the biggest layoffs for me are:
